The sounds, the lights, the environment, and the participants&#8217; actions come together in these artworks to foster curiosity and a pallet of emotions, helping to rediscover a world that is always radically changing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">In these pieces, I worked with topics such as <strong>climate emergencies<\/strong>, and <strong>cosmology<\/strong>, among others, to build a bridge between scientific novelties and our perceptions in a <strong>playful relation between science, art, and technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">While working on my research project on data sonification, Sounding Numbers (2020-2022), I decided to explore a participatory use for the sonifications I was creating. I wanted this outcome to be an immersive, welcoming, and open space for the participants\u2019<strong>&nbsp;perception<\/strong>, allowing them to imagine realities and experience emotionally the scientific theories that I worked with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">In this work, I addressed&nbsp;<strong>ocean contamination, deforestation, neutron stars<\/strong>, and spaciality for a critical perspective on&nbsp;<strong>LOVE<\/strong>. I chose to use&nbsp;<strong>technology<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>extend<\/strong>&nbsp;our&nbsp;<strong>sensorial world<\/strong>&nbsp;of perceptions. I explored motion and heartbeat sensors, MIDI controllers, CO<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;sensors, and transducers. Through this technology, the participants can change and compose soundscapes by going around a room, using MIDI controllers, or just by sending their heartbeats to a computer. They can also hear how sonifications change while measuring the amount of CO<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;from the air they breathe. Or they can listen to the sounds of deforestation while hugging a tree to later plant seeds next to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">I feel that the physical action of participation is a very strong action \u2013 an activist action. E.g. listening to deforestation sonifications resonating from the trunk of a tree, like a heartbeat of a dying species. And after listening, we plant seeds next to that tree, a simple but&nbsp;<strong>powerful act of redemption.<\/strong>&nbsp;In an overall sense, the beauty of these pieces lies in the space of reflection they create, allowing the participants to draw their own conclusions and engage in positive&nbsp;<strong>artivist<\/strong>&nbsp;actions that bring a sense of&nbsp;<strong>community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-5 wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-4 wp-block-column\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p
